Want a simple but lovely wreath? Try this easy wreath project! Fresh roses and eucalyptus work beautifully together and will dry nicely for continued use. It’s perfect for Springtime, Valentine’s Day, or any time you want to add a fresh pop of color to your space.

Easy wreath: A grapevine wreath form with fresh eucalyptus and pink roses laying atop a vintage green wooden table.
The pink roses and green eucalyptus were made for each other!

This wreath really couldn’t be easier! I’ve always loved fresh flowers – especially from Trader Joe’s who always has a good selection and reasonable prices! I was particularly inspired by an Instagram friend who turned them into a fresh wreath.

I headed to Trader Joe’s and found these mini roses which immediately captured my heart, along with plenty of seeded eucalyptus. Then I went home and dug around in my basement for a grapevine wreath to repurpose and got to work. It only took about 15 minutes!

This easy wreath is a grapevine wreath form with fresh roses and eucalyptus hanging between two sunny windows.
I love the beautiful color it adds to the kitchen!

How to Make the Easy Wreath:

It couldn’t be simpler – just cut your stems so that there are only a few inches remaining, then stick them directly into your grapevine wreath form! That easy! I kept my foliage and flowers toward the bottom but you can certainly do any configuration you like!

A Note on Drying

If you’d like to continue using your wreath you’ll want to lay it flat to dry. This will prevent your roses from all pointing their little heads forever downward.

Once you see your flowers start to droop (probably after a day or so), simply lay the wreath flat, adjust your flower heads so that they point in varying directions, and let it dry. Once it’s completely dry you can hang it back up.

Pink roses in a yellow pitcher atop a vintage green table. In the background is a sunny double window. In-between the windows is the rose and eucalyptus wreath. Also in the photo is a white church pew with a little olive tree in a crock and a vintage woven basket.
I love how this simple but elegant wreath adds a pop of color to the kitchen!

My wreath is hanging in-between the double windows in my kitchen. It adds a delightful pop of freshness and color to the space!

I hope you give this a try and that you love it as much as I do!

Colorful wildflower wreath on a deep blue door
(Door color is Fusion Mineral Paint “Liberty Blue.”)

A few weeks ago I had a friend ask me if I would be willing to make her a new Spring wreath. Her favorite one was deteriorating after a few years of use. I agreed, and when I got the chance the girls and I stopped by Michael’s Craft Store one morning while my son was at school. Lo and behold, all their Spring florals were 50% off! Woohoo!

My goal was to create a wreath that played on the same themes as my friends’ old favorite:

Lots of small, delicate flowers in a variety of textures and colors mixed together on a bed of foliage.

Almost sounds like a salad recipe now that I read that – ha!

There is really no one way to make a wreath – a lot of it comes down to personal preference and making it work for your style and space. However, I’ll share the supplies and technique I used to build this one, as well as a few tips for putting together your own wildflower wreath.

Also, thanks to McGlynn Farm for gifting me this cute wildflower t-shirt! You can find this sweet shirt here, along with many other lovely finds for your home! (Sorry about the spots – it was raining on me!)

Melissa wearing a bright pink tee shirt printed with white wildflowers, holding a wildflower wreath in front of a deep blue door.

Supplies needed for a wildflower wreath:

  • A grapevine wreath form (the one I used was 18 inches in diameter)
  • A variety of faux florals and foliage
  • Scissors for cutting off tags
  • Wire cutters (I like these by Husky)
  • Optional floral wire

I tried to be super organized and proactive and saved all my floral tags so that I could link the specific florals I used in this wildflower wreath for you, but unfortunately I could only find one of them on the Michael’s website. Ugh! Any similar flowers will do, though. Here are a few to consider:

How to build a wildflower wreath:

There are many ways to attach stems to a wreath form. Personally, I’m comfortable with just trimming my floral stems (still leaving them semi-long) and sticking them directly into the grapevine wreath form. They will definitely stay this way as long as no one is intentionally pulling them out. I’ve seen people hot glue their stems in, but this does not appeal to me as I like the flexibility of taking flowers out and rearranging them while building my wreath. I’m a design-as-I-go type of person.

You can also secure them with floral wire if you so desire. It’s definitely more work, but will ensure that your flowers will stay put for a long time. (You can see that demonstrated in my YouTube video below.)

That being said, I do still lay out all my flowers at the beginning to get an idea of what I would like to do.

In keeping with the style of my friend’s previous wreath, I decided to do blocks of color. If you’d like a more mixed look, by all means feel free to mix your flowers together! I’m really partial to the color block look, though.

While there is no one right way to put together a wreath, here are a few tips:

  • Keep all your florals and foliage “flowing” in the same direction, either clockwise or counter-clockwise. This will help keep it from feeling too chaotic.
  • Be sure to place your stems toward the “outside” and “inside” of your wreath circle – not just a straight line around the wreath form – this will help give it fullness and depth.
  • Be sure to overlap your stems, meaning the flowers/leaves of one bunch cover the stem of the preceding bunch.
  • Don’t forget that you can modify faux florals to fit your needs. Too many leaves on that flower? Slide them off or cut them off to keep your wreath from looking too bushy!

There you have it – a simple wildflower wreath that will serve you Spring through Summer!

A sweet Easter printable and phone wallpaper with a joyful message!

As we approach Easter (only a week away!) and enter Holy Week, my thoughts quickly turn from prepping Easter baskets to the reason this holiday exists. It’s not the bunnies, chocolate, and eggs, though they are certainly fun! It’s the powerful, joyful proclamation that Jesus is alive! He is risen! (Sorry, I know it’s technically still Lent…)

Though it’s not quite Easter yet, I wanted to make this printable and phone wallpaper available to you in advance so you have time to print it if you’d like to use it! I was afraid if I waited until next weekend to publish it you’d be in the midst of prepping for family gatherings and such.

White background with pink and cream roses and greenery. Text reads "He Is Risen Indeed, Alleluia!"

So, I hope you enjoy! I had fun putting it together. As always, thanks so much for following along – I appreciate your support!

Some friends and I have teamed up to share our Spring tablescapes this week!

Ever since I was a little girl I’ve loved Peter Rabbit…

…all Beatrix Potter, really. The stories are charming and of course I love the gardens, the English countryside, and Potter’s beautiful illustrations! We had the stories as audiobooks (on cassette tape! I’m dating myself…) and I listened to them all the time.

Back when I was expecting my first child, I decorated the nursery in a Beatrix Potter theme and registered for sets of her books, adorable little stuffed Peter Rabbit, Jemima Puddleduck, and Jeremy Fisher dolls, a Peter Rabbit bank – all sorts of things! We still have them and I cherish them. If you’re unfamiliar with the story of Peter Rabbit, you can read it here!

While this tablescape is not overtly Peter Rabbit, meaning that it doesn’t use the well-known illustrated character in any way, it is a nod to him and incorporates some key elements from the story in a creative way. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Let’s start with the centerpiece: A Watering Can!

“And [he] rushed into the toolshed, and jumped into a can. It would have been a beautiful thing to hide in, if it had not had so much water in it.” – from The Tale of Peter Rabbit

This particular watering can, by Hearth & Hand from Target, was a nice neutral base for filling with some bright, colorful Spring flowers, like these daffodils I found at my local grocery store. I wanted to add some height and additional texture, so I stacked it atop two slices of wood I had from our old tree. You can certainly purchase wood slices if you don’t have any laying around. I then tucked in two little bunnies just hanging out on the wood slices – perhaps resting like Peter! I got mine years ago and don’t even remember where, but these are really cute and whimsical!

Next, the Place Settings

“…he might have got away altogether if he had not…got caught by the large buttons on his jacket. It was a blue jacket with brass buttons, quite new.” – from The Tale of Peter Rabbit

If you’ve been around here awhile you may have gathered that I love all things blue and white! As a nod to Peter’s poor lost jacket, I used blue and white plates topped with blue and white stuffed gingham carrots. The tablecloth also has a bluish tint to it, but is actually mostly gray. I was going to use my favorite blue and white striped tablecloth, but mine is unfortunately too small for our table with the leaf in.

The vintage J&G Meakin “Dresden Blue” Ironstone plates were a thrift store find, and the carrots were from an Easter garland I purchased at Homegoods last year on clearance. The garland was too long to hang anywhere in my house, so I pulled the carrots off and used some on the table and some in my entryway decor. These are similar and super cute. These are also a cute alternative.

The distressed white chargers were from Hobby Lobby several years ago at Christmastime, and the white cloth napkins are by Hearth & Hand from Target. I just tied it all together with some simple natural kitchen twine. The utensils are our everyday ones, and the crystal glasses were a wedding gift I only pull out for photoshoots! Ha!

The “Place Cards”

“Mr. McGregor was quite sure that Peter was somewhere in the toolshed, perhaps hidden underneath a flower-pot.” – from The Tale of Peter Rabbit

For a simple but cute place marker, I wrote names on popsicle sticks using a fine tip sharpie and stuck them in tiny flower pots filled with potting soil – one for each place. Not difficult at all, but fitting with the theme! It would be cute to have a little plant growing in there, but I didn’t have any that tiny available at the time I put this tablescape together.

Spring Garden Accents

“First he ate some lettuces and some French beans; and then he ate some radishes…[Mr. McGregor] tried to put his foot upon Peter, who jumped out of a window, upsetting three plants.” – from The Tale of Peter Rabbit

I thought it would be super fun to get some carrots with the greenery still attached and use them as decor! To get them to stay upright I tied them with a little bow of twine and placed them in glass jars on either side of the watering can. We cooked them up and ate them with dinner that night, haha! I love it when things serve dual purpose.

Since Peter ate some radishes from Mr. McGregor’s garden, I definitely had to incorporate some of those bright cheerful veggies in this tablescape! I thought it would be extra fun to have them “spilling” out of a pot – just like the plants Peter tipped as he scampered out the window!

Unglazed terra cotta pots are typically safe for food and don’t contain lead, however to be safe I lined each of these pots with trimmed-down ziplock bags before placing the veggies inside. You can also thoroughly wash and dry the pots before use. Don’t use pots that have been previously used for chemicals, fertilizers, etc, as those compounds can soak into the terra cotta. Please note that glazed pots may contain lead depending on the manufacturer.

Do this at your own discretion. I felt comfortable lining the pots and using them, but it is up to you to judge for yourself if this is safe or not. This is simply a fun decor idea based on my own experience and research.

(Also pictured: the reason I rarely paint my nails…because I seldom have the discipline to remove the chipping polish!)

Had to include some blackberries in there, too!

“But Flopsy, Mopsy, and Cotton-tail had bread and milk and blackberries for supper.” – from The Tale of Peter Rabbit

This is in addition to the fact my son has been asking if I’d buy him blackberries. Dual purpose for the win again!

I layered some fresh eucalyptus stems from Trader Joe’s underneath for added depth and to tie the individual pieces together (connect them, if you will).

There you have it – a Spring Tablescape inspired by Peter Rabbit’s adventures in Mr. McGregor’s garden!

Thanks so much for reading – I hope it inspired you to create your own Spring tablescape!

If you enjoyed this post, don’t forget to Pin it for later!

I absolutely adored the way my entryway mirror looked at Christmastime with a garland! In fact I loved it so much I kept it around through Valentine’s Day and justified it with the fact it had red in it. Ha! But alas, the time finally came to take it down and the wall felt so empty – it needed another garland!

I literally just went around my house and gathered up some greenery and florals that I already had. They were all from Target and I’ve linked them all below in case you would like to recreate the look. Then I set to work wiring them together into a garland – it didn’t take much time at all! You just have to not be too perfectionistic about it – the more random and natural looking the better.

Spring Mirror Garland Tutorial

Supplies:

Clear Command Adhesive Hooks (I used 4 of them)
Floral Wire
Wire Cutters
3 Faux Trailing Stems (I used the 38″ ones linked here)
Faux White Peonies
Faux Small White Wildflowers

(This is my mirror from Target)

Step 1: Place clear command hooks around the outside frame of your mirror.

I used 4 of them. Basically you want one or two near the top that will hold most of the weight of the garland (make sure your hooks are rated to hold the appropriate amount of weight), plus a few down the side to guide the garland.

Step 2: Wire together 3 stems of trailing greenery.

Shorten any super long stems, then overlap the branches as you wire them so that the leaves of the previous branch hide the beginning of the next one. Keep your stems pointing in the same direction.

Step 3: Wire in groups of white peonies.

I like to group them in odd numbers (I did a group of 5) and to vary the sizes in each grouping. These are your main focal point in your garland, so don’t be afraid to go big! I tried to have mine fall at the very upper left of my garland – the balance just felt right to me.

Step 4: Wire in groups of white wildflowers.

I cut smaller pieces off the main stem, then wired the little cuttings into groups, staggering the length of each to make them more natural. I then attached those groups to the garland. Just a few here and there – not so many as to overwhelm the garland

Step 5: Secure the garland to the hooks using floral wire.

Wrap floral wire around sections of your garland to form little loops, then hang the loops on the command hooks. I like to make my loops at least 2 wires thick (I wrap it twice) for added support. You can then fluff and adjust your garland until it’s just like you want it! Don’t be too perfectionistic though – the more random and natural the better!

There you have it – a quick and easy Spring Mirror Garland!

I hope you enjoyed this little tutorial! You can certainly apply this technique to any season and florals you want – it’s very versatile!

If you found this tutorial helpful, want to save it for later, or share it with a friend, don’t forget to…

Melissa

These sweet little no-sew bunnies are a quick, easy project and make a great garland or basket filler!

I made mine from a vintage lace tablecloth that I got at a rummage sale for $1, along with other supplies I already had on hand. The tablecloth was stained in many places and really not fit for use anymore, so I didn’t feel too guilty for cutting it up! You could easily use an old doily or any type of lace from the fabric store if you wish.

Supplies

  • Cardstock
  • Pencil
  • Scissors for paper
  • White scrap fabric (I used an old sheet)
  • Old lace tablecloth (or doilies or other lace fabric)
  • Fiber fill or other stuffing
  • Optional wooden skewer or thin stick
  • Hot glue gun & refill sticks
  • Optional rubber glove
  • Fabric scissors
  • Faux fur, small pom-poms, or cotton balls
  • Cotton twine (preferably natural color, not bright white)
  • Needle and White Thread (if creating a garland)

Directions

1. Draw a bunny shape on the card stock (or print one from the computer).

2. Cut the bunny shape out (never use fabric scissors on paper – it will dull them!).

3. Trace the bunny shape on the white fabric using your pencil. You will need 2 tracings per bunny. I recommend an odd number of bunnies for a garland – I made 7 bunnies (14 tracings).

4. Cut the bunny shapes out with your fabric scissors.

5. Glue the 2 bunny shapes together using hot glue, but leave a gap for stuffing the bunny.

6. Stuff the bunny with desired amount of fiber fill. The wooden skewer can help get the stuffing up into the ears.

7. Glue the gap closed.

8. Cut a rectangle of lace that will cover the whole bunny.

9. Working quickly, outline the whole bunny in hot glue and lay the lace on top, pressing the edges down into the hot glue. Wearing a rubber glove will help prevent you from getting burned, as the hot glue will seep up through the holes in the lace!

10. Trim the excess lace off from the edges of the bunny.

11. Glue on a small piece of faux fur, pom-pom, or a cotton ball for the tail.

12. Tie a small bow with the twine. Glue it to the neck of the bunny.

13. Use as basket filler, or create a garland with a needle and white thread.

I threaded the string through the center of each bunny’s head, working from right to left. Don’t go too low on each bunny with the thread or the bunnies will tip forward when the garland is hung.

Alternatively, you could glue the bunnies onto a length of twine if you don’t want to mess with a needle and thread. I personally like having the option of pulling them off someday and so prefer the thread method.

There you have it!

I hope these sweet little bunnies bring all the elegant, vintage Spring vibes to your home! Enjoy!
