How to turn anything into a planter<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
This tutorial is quite simple, but that’s the beauty of it! This method makes it easy to turn just about anything into a planter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
What should I make into a planter?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
Here are some fun ideas for objects you can make into a planter:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
- Vintage canister<\/li>
- Vintage kettle or teapot<\/li>
- Thrifted bucket or basket<\/li>
- Pitcher<\/li>
- An old shoe (can’t you just picture a vine growing out of a neat old boot?)<\/li>
- Crock or cooking pot<\/li>
- Ironstone tureen<\/li>
- An upside down hat<\/li>
- A faux pumpkin (top removed)<\/li>
- A vintage dresser or sewing table drawer (removed from the table)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n
When you’re choosing your vessel, keep in mind that you will need to water your plant. You can certainly remove the inner plastic tub each time you water, but that may be a bit of a hassle. You will want to choose something that will not be badly affected by a little moisture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Here are the supplies you’ll need to turn your objective of choice into a planter:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
- “Planter” of choice – see above for ideas<\/li>
- Flexible plastic container that fits inside your planter (e.g. butter\/margarine container, cool whip, etc.)<\/li>
- Plant saucer \/ water tray that fits inside your planter (like these<\/a>)<\/li>
- Sharp scissors, knife, screwdriver, or other tool to puncture holes in plastic<\/li>
- Potting soil and scoop<\/li>
- A plant (I used pothos – you can read about how to propagate pothos here<\/a>)<\/li>
