That is the best kind of project!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After playing for church one Sunday, I ran over to Michael&#8217;s craft store to make a quick return on my way home. (Let&#8217;s be honest here &#8211; is a trip to a craft store ever actually quick?) I happened to notice that their Spring and Summer floral was 60% off and made my way over to that corner. Maybe it&#8217;s the summer heat and humidity making me crave something refreshing, but I&#8217;ve been a bit obsessed with lemons lately: I put some vintagey lemon prints in our family room and bought a new coffee cup with lemons all over it. So as I was wandering the floral section, it suddenly hit me: &#8220;I&#8217;m going to turn my plain old boxwood wreath into a lemon wreath!&#8221; While the kids were napping that afternoon, I did just that, and it took all of about 20 minutes!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A while back I had purchased a boxwood wreath from Hobby Lobby when they had their wreaths 50% off, and I hung it in the kitchen on the door to our garage. And you know what? I think it all worked out!  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/hymnsandhome.files.wordpress.com\/2020\/07\/img_5105.jpg?w=1280\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1439\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Easy DIY Lemon Wreath Tutorial<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Supplies:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>1 Boxwood Wreath<\/strong> <strong>approx. 18-20&#8243; in diameter<\/strong>. I got mine at Hobby Lobby, but it looks like they no longer have it online (check an actual Hobby Lobby store &amp; make sure to use a coupon!) Or Amazon has <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B07H4JBSKV\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=B07H4JBSKV&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=hymnsandhome-20&amp;linkId=fa11b38757194ffbb32ba4ad65a9f772\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"text-decoration:underline;\">this one<\/span><\/a> and <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B07MG45CBX\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=B07MG45CBX&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=hymnsandhome-20&amp;linkId=8e5e8bc57740c228613cde2d2b66ebae\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"text-decoration:underline;\">this one<\/span><\/a>, which are similar to mine.<\/li><li><strong>1 5ft. Lemon &amp; Summer Berry Garland<\/strong>. I found mine at Michael&#8217;s, but unfortunately it looks like they no longer have it. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.michaels.com\/5-ft-yellow-summer-berry-and-flower-coiled-garland-by-ashland\/10580183.html\"><span style=\"text-decoration:underline;\">This one<\/span><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.michaels.com\/5-ft-white-summer-berry-and-flower-coiled-garland-by-ashland\/10580184.html\"><span style=\"text-decoration:underline;\">this one<\/span><\/a> are both similar. Any 5ft. mini garland with some blossoms would look nice.<\/li><li><strong>1 Artificial Lemon &#8220;Bush&#8221;<\/strong> (7 lemons). <a href=\"https:\/\/www.michaels.com\/artificial-lemon-bushes-by-ashland\/10360024.html\"><span style=\"text-decoration:underline;\">These<\/span><\/a> are the ones I used.<\/li><li><strong>1 Spool Navy &amp; White Striped Ribbon<\/strong>. I used <a href=\"https:\/\/www.michaels.com\/1.5in-grosgrain-striped-ribbon-by-celebrate-it-360\/10510077.html\"><span style=\"text-decoration:underline;\">this<\/span><\/a>. It is unwired, but you could certainly use wired as well.<\/li><li><strong>Wire Cutters<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Scissors<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Optional: Floral Wire<\/strong>. I didn&#8217;t use any and feel like my wreath is fine, but if you want to make the whole thing really secure, feel free to use some.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Let me preface all this by saying there is no one &#8220;right way&#8221; to do this &#8211; just play around with it and have fun! Lay your wreath on a flat surface. Once you have determined how much &#8220;waviness&#8221; you will need to make the end of your garland meet up with the beginning, tuck it into your wreath, using the wreath&#8217;s branches to hold the garland in place. This is the time to use your floral wire if you want it super secure. I didn&#8217;t use any and I don&#8217;t feel like mine&#8217;s going to fall out anytime soon.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"407\" height=\"396\" src=\"https:\/\/hymnsandhome.files.wordpress.com\/2019\/07\/diagram-4-1.jpg?w=407&#038;resize=407%2C396\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-154\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/hymnsandhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/diagram-4-1.jpg?w=407&amp;ssl=1 407w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/hymnsandhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/diagram-4-1.jpg?resize=300%2C292&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 407px) 100vw, 407px\" \/><figcaption>5. <em>Before you cut, <\/em>pull the ribbon through the center of the wreath and measure carefully how much you will need to get it to be the desired length from your nail\/hook. Uncoil your garland. Place it in a wavy pattern on top of your wreath, like in the diagram. This will keep things from looking too predictable and will help fill in the wreath. Start off to one side (not the top) to better hide where it begins and ends. Separate the lemons from the &#8220;bush&#8221; with wire cutters, cutting way down at the bottom to leave a long stem on each. Use the lemons to fill in your wreath, sticking the wire stems firmly into the grapevine part of the wreath form. My wreath is not actually hanging from the ribbon &#8211; it is hanging from a command adhesive by a metal loop on the back of the wreath. The ribbon is just for show. Want to know a bigger secret? The end of the ribbon is scotch-taped on the top edge of my door.
